Irish Premier Denounces Israel’s Breach of Gaza Ceasefire
(MENAFN) Ireland’s Taoiseach, or prime minister, firmly denounced Israel’s recent lethal assaults in the Gaza Strip, describing them as a breach of the truce between Israel and the Palestinian faction Hamas.
"I strongly condemn the strikes in Gaza that have reportedly left more than 100 dead, including 46 children. I urge all parties to adhere to, and implement, the ceasefire agreement and call for a surge in humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza," Micheal Martin stated late Wednesday on the US social media company X’s platform.
Emphasizing that the loss of "so many innocent lives" is "absolutely appalling," he reiterated the necessity of upholding international law.
"All parties need to honour the commitments they made and to work to ensure that the other elements of the plan can move forward. Too many people have suffered and died already," Martin continued.
His comments followed reports that Israeli forces had killed over 100 Palestinians, including 46 children, in the Gaza Strip since Tuesday evening—an action that breached the ceasefire agreement established on Oct. 10, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
The ministry further reported that Israel’s renewed offensives wounded 253 individuals, among them 78 children and 84 women.
According to Palestinian Health Ministry statistics, since the truce began, no fewer than 211 people have lost their lives and 597 have been injured in Israeli attacks.
