Irish PM Rebukes Israel Over Gaza Renewed Atrocities

(MENAFN) Ireland's prime minister has issued a sharp rebuke following Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip that breached an existing ceasefire with Hamas, resulting in over 100 Palestinian deaths.

"I strongly condemn the strikes in Gaza that have reportedly left more than 100 dead, including 46 children. I urge all parties to adhere to, and implement, the ceasefire agreement and call for a surge in humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza," Micheal Martin stated late Wednesday via the social media platform X.

The Taoiseach described the loss of innocent lives as "absolutely appalling" and emphasized the imperative to uphold international legal standards.

"All parties need to honour the commitments they made and to work to ensure that the other elements of the plan can move forward. Too many people have suffered and died already," Martin added.

His statement followed Israeli military strikes that killed more than 100 Palestinians, including 46 children, since Tuesday evening in Gaza—actions that violate the ceasefire established October 10, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The renewed Israeli offensive has also wounded 253 individuals, among them 78 children and 84 women, ministry officials reported.

Ministry statistics indicate that at least 211 people have been killed and 597 injured in Israeli strikes since the ceasefire commenced.

Israel's Gaza operations, ongoing since October 2023, have claimed more than 68,600 lives—predominantly women and children—while injuring over 170,600 others.
